Provide direct instruction, practice, and ongoing feedback in processes that proficient communicators use in formal and informal situations so that students:

expression, gestures, and tone of voice in formal and informal conversations

ask questions, paraphrase

consider other points of view before offering a response

use effective listening skills

select the best vehicle for communicating the message

organize and present information in a logical manner

Routinely involve students in goal setting and refl ection about their learning

Routinely use short cycle feedback to adjust instruction and assure learning
